It’s that time again! School is starting back, summer is officially winding down, and while for many that means schedules become fuller and hectic.

So, “what do I do now?” The last few months it has been all about vacations, trips, our kids being out of school and spending time out and about in the sun. And although our work schedule has more than likely stayed the same, it is important to get back to our normal way of life and plan how to stick with those daily goals.

1. Recommit to Exercise Routine

It may not be the easiest thing to do with having the kids back in school and extra circulars needing your time and energy, but after a summer with maybe less discipline, it is important to get back on track and recommit to your fitness goals. Finding a plan and workout that fits your exact schedule will help give you the confidence to succeed and achieve the goals you set forth. Summer may have been a fun break from the grind, but now it is time to get focused!

2. Use a Calendar

A calendar or calendar-type app on your  phone is a great step in post summer planning. Finding a place that is visible to the entire family can help everyone know exactly what is going on during a certain day.  Using one through your phone is great because they can often be linked with alerts, reminders, and alarms. Setting alerts can help hold us accountable to stay true to our time blocking and not let the day get away from us.

3. Get Good Sleep

Once school starts back, we typically give our kids a new bedtime versus when they were going to bed during the summer. Well, they should not be the only ones. Give yourself a bedtime and try to stay true to what you set for yourself. Getting a good night’s sleep is very important in how your body works. Getting solid rest can be all the difference in feeling refreshed and motivated to tackle the day or dragging and being drowsy. Let’s be honest; we probably did not hold ourselves to the best sleeping habits during the summer months either.

Just remember that consistency is key! A workout at any time of the day is better than no workout. Establish a routine and stick with it.

Adios Amigos, xoxo!!

  1. I plan my workouts on my calendar as well! It helps me to know when I’ll be able to get in a workout, and how many I’ve done that week. Plus, I can keep track of the actual exercises I’m doing! One of my favorite exercise apps in SWORKIT. If you haven’t tried it, I definitely recommend it!

  2. OMG I’m literally eating ice cream as I read this 🙁 So I need to add a step one before this, haha! Put down the spoon!!! I can’t control the sleep issue as much as I’d like (too many little ones that hate sleep!) but I CAN control the spoon 😉

  3. Haha, I love that! Put the spoon down girl! There are things we can’t always control, but what we CAN control, go for it! Xoxo
