Pomegranate Honey Toning Mask

From Kale and Caramel: Pomegranate juice is exceedingly high in Vitamin C, making it a potent antioxidant and skin revitalizer. As it works to slough off dead skin cells, it makes way for your skin to receive new moisture. And since the juice is made by blending whole seeds, the resulting pomegranate nectar is filled with traces of the seeds’ oils. These oils promote skin regeneration, even as the polyphenols in the fruit prevent oxidative damage. Pomegranates also contain high levels of ellagic acid, which reduces the breakdown of collagen. Translation: Skin full of all the vibrance of a thousand pomegranate jewels.

Paired with raw honey, this is a true elixir for radiance. Honey is a natural antibacterial and cleansing agent, used for centuries as a preservative (hello, mummies in Egypt!). It’s also my daily facial cleanser, and has helped dozens of friends end their battles with skin irritations, red bumps, and bothersome breakouts.

Exfoliating Brown Sugar & Honey face mask

The honey contains natural enzymes that act as an antiseptic to clean out my pores while the sugar exfoliates my pores and skin. The antimicrobial agent in the honey helps fight acne by slowly releasing natural hydrogen peroxide. The sugar actually has high mineral content that contributes to moisturizing my skin. Together they make a great natural scrub. One of the best things is that this can be used as an all over body scrub too.

Skin saving properties of honey:

  • Acne: Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it’s great for acne treatment and prevention.
  • Aging: Full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging.
  • Complexion boost: It is extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it helps create a glow.
  • Pores: Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

3 Tools to help you with your face masks:

Glass jars. You will need somewhere to store your face mask. A glass jar with a  wide mouth are perfect for the job!

Wooden spoon. A few ingredients such as benzonite clay and activated charcoal should not be mixed with metal. Choosing a wooden spoon when mixing your ingredients will guarantee that the toxins are leached into your face mask.

Face mask brush. You could of course use your fingers to apply your face mask but a face mask brush makes for smooth application and less mess.

Glowing skin originates from inside the body so here is my number one tip for healthy, firm skin. Add some high quality collagen to your diet. The collagen protein is too large to be absorbed by the skin so those anti-aging lotions and potions are selling you false advertising!  To truly get the benefits of collagen you must take it internally.

So there you have it!

Do give these recipes a go and let me know how it worked for you.
