I’m so excited to be sharing this diy project I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. This is my first time using chalk paint. This is how I found it.

I have been spending too much time these days on Craiglist and OfferUp just browsing through the old pieces of furniture that some want to get rid of it because of its lifeless appearance, and of course I really want to believe I possess the gift of

I saw this post on Craigslist- this was ready to be thrown away (can you believe that?!) from a storage place near me and I decided to go personally and check it out. What I really wanted was an old gold tufted loveseat that was in the same storage (not pictured here) which I have yet to give it life and glamour (hopefully I get to do that soon). Anywho, I thought this hutch might be useful for something- I’m still wondering what’s that useful purpose I can give it, but I am so glad it looks so modern and A-MAZING now. Keep on reading, I’ll walk you through the steps of what I did.

Here’s where we started. This reminds me of heavy old furniture that my mom had when I was growing up. Despite the dated look, this piece is one of a kind! The entire piece was wiped off to remove dust and all the glass was removed.  I had to use wood filler to put the new knobs and pulls in.

I used ONLY TWO bottles of this FolkArt Chalk paint in Nautical color. I purchased four and was really hoping that it would be enough. This paint is really good. Lots of coverage. The two extra bottles will be used. I have a dinning table that can use a makeover.

One coat of  chalk paint.

Two coats of chalk paint and glass back on. The color here looks different because of the lighting.

One coat of clear wax applied. I just LOVE how the wax intensifies the color! The knobs were spray painted in metallic gold.

Hi, I’m Jenny and I’m a Hello Kitty-holic. I don’t have any nice dinnerware to put in the hutch so I took out my collection of Hello Kitty and have it displayed in my dinning room. I think I should change it a bit and perhaps find a few plates that can go with it.

What’s your favorite hutch decor? What would you change?
